Gonna talk about designing mobile status at the Mensch & Computer 2010 at Duisburg this tuesday. Workshop will also have some references to ways of expression via photography. Tho' a bit tired I am really looking forward to it!

Thanks for all the people coming and taking part in the UX Session. Hope you had as much fun as I had. And don't be so timid next time - you've got some great ideas.

You probably heard about the heavy thunderstorms coming down on Pakistan the last days. My friend and photographer Nana currently is some miles away in neighbouring Ladakh, the northernmost state of India. I must truly admit that without her documentary work I would not have noticed similar devestations caused there by flashing floods. In her blog Nana describes her experiences during and after the storm. You will also get very personal insights in people's tragic stories as well as information about how to help with donation. For further details I warmly recommend her blog with photos and texts.

Les Animaux de Monaco
Excusez mon Francais. Les mots suivants sont en Anglais ;)

I was on summer vacation at the Côte d'Azur in France. Spending a day in Monaco I stumbled on this affecting event called "benediction of animals".

Imagine about two hundred people of all ages and origins coming together at the Monaco Cathedral. Everyone accompenied by their dogs, bunnies, ferrets and other animal friends. What at first sight sounds like a scenery of excessive yapping and biting actually was such a wonderful gathering!

After the priest of the cathedral had appeared, the crowd held a prayer blessing animals as well as people. The ceremony ended with everybody singing in the warm evening sun (see lyrics at slide #2). A really moving moment. I left with such a good feeling.

With its second issue @Paris Mus-Mus photography site tries to find out how today's photographers see and reflect on Paris. Several talented people all over the world contributed their individual impressions to this project. Finally the very rich pool of photographs was jugdged by Stephen Shore, Gil Blank and Denise Wolff and I was really pleased to see that Sonja's submission made it into the gallery.

phenotypes/limited forms by Armin Linke

phenotypes/limited forms is an interactive project which basically produces photo books on demand. the installation is made up of two display tables with printers and a physical archive of several hundred photos, each one tagged using RFID technology.

by placing eight of those photos on one of the tables visitors can create customized leporello print-outs of the exhibition. as a designer i really liked the way how users could interact with the installation (by the way....old, tattered gloves are really scuzzy). finally it was not just about technically bringing database information into real life but about knowingly creating and experiencing customized spheres of art within existing exhibitions.
